Clash: Part 1

    It's time that we put some effort into developing another server to add to the Cobalt network. As you'll see around the commands and portal areas, there is a section for a Minigames server, but it does not show up as online. This is because our old Minigames server was a "flop", it had bad development and didn't get off to a good start.

    Let's add a Minigames server, but make it better. Here are the ideas.

    First, we're gonna call this new realm "Clash", modeled loosely after the popular game Clash of Clans. This will be a very unique realm to the Cobalt network (different than anything we have currently). We are going to program the plugins 100% by ourselves, completely custom for the network. There also aren't any Clash of Clans-based servers out there, so this will be a pretty unique (and I hope popular) realm.

    When you first spawn, you start out in a 4-way portal system, similar to the Skyblock realm. The four portals will be "Build", "Attack", "Shop", and "Clash". Each portal is described below.

    Build
    The central concept or home base is your own village. You can go here to store your items, and build up your defenses. You better build up your defenses well because other people will be able to attack this village from the corners. It's up to you to build walls and protect your resource blocks. Resource blocks (still working on terminology) are your prized possessions – and the enemy's main target. You can place these blocks anywhere in your base. Some resource blocks will get you money every hour. Some will spawn defensive mobs in the enemy's face. One main block to protect is the central "town hall" block. If the enemy destroys this, they win the battle and get time to loot your village. I'll explain this more in the next section.

    You can "upgrade" your resource blocks, too! Better, upgraded resource blocks yield more money, more powerful and numerous defenses, and even traps. To upgrade your base, you need to get experience. You will have a "level" in your experience bar, and then to upgrade levels you need more experience points. You can get XP from winning battles, breaking objectives, and playing mini games. You will also have some kind of money in order to buy more things. I'll talk about money more in the shop section.

    Attack
    Here's the fun part, and it's also a single player part. You can walk into the attack portal, and have a choice of one of 5 villages to attack (all at a similar level as yours). During the attack, you can spawn with different weapons and armor, along with other mobs to help you out. All of those things can be unlocked and purchased as you progress. Donors will also get some cool kits. The village's owner that you are attacking will have purchased some wood or "harder-to-break-with-your-fist" blocks as the walls. As you level up, you can get pickaxes and axes to help break the walls quicker. Your main goal is to go for the resource blocks. If you can destroy a gold resource block, you'll get a certain amount of money spawned in (not from the village) as a prize. If you manage to destroy the central "town-hall" block, you will get something like 30 seconds to raid the village (with defenses turned off) before you're teleported out of battle. Otherwise you'll have like 3 minutes to attack.

    You get spawned into a village in a marked corner of the village. The owner of that village knows those spawn points so watch out! They'll know you're coming and they'll build up their walls and place defensive traps and mob spawners to stop you. After winning attacks, you get experience. That's one of the main ways to earn XP to unlock more things in the shop to buy. Ooh, speaking of the shop...

    Shop
    This is the cool part of how the economy works. You'll need XP to be able to buy more powerful blocks: like buying stone for your walls, then buying blocks tougher than stone, then ultimately buying obsidian blocks for your walls to make it very hard for the enemy to break down your village. You can also buy more gold/elixir collectors, mob spawner blocks, and other things to add to your base. Maybe cool things like traps or redstone stuff!

    You can also buy offensive gear. We might have like 50 "kits" that you can buy that you spawn into battle with. These kits will have their strengths and weaknesses, but for example if you're a very high level (you'll only be able to attack people with the same level as you roughly) then you can get diamond pickaxes to break the obsidian your enemy will have placed for their walls. This is where we can sell and add a lot of cool kits and RPG elements. Maybe guns? Maybe mobs that help you fight?

    Clash
    Here's where the mini games will be. This is just a fun place to cool off and relax, and have fun fighting in mini games. We'll custom-create all these games so it's not buggy or boring. You can earn money and XP in these games, and play solo with friends! We'll probably bring back some maps or old games from the Minigames server we had previously.


    So here's an overview of the Clash server we'll be adding. Obviously this is just the first brainstorm I've had. I talked with some minecrafters, builders, and developers, and everything I've listed is very possible to design, build, and program. But I need your help!

    Let me know what you think of these elements. Ask questions, give ideas, and in a few days I'll type up another description (with some screenshots or pictures) of the server. We'll want to plan it out very well before beginning construction, because I don't want to hit any major roadblocks during development.

    This will also mean that the other servers will lack bug fixes and updates. That means if you have any pressing bugs, features, or requests to add... make sure we know what they are now! That way I can get them fixed and added and then those servers should run smoothly.

    Mobs: I like the idea of mobs fighting with you, for I was using that idea in a gamemode brainstorm (PM me if you want to see). You should be able to get mobs by either buying them with money, or finding them in your world, sort of like the Gem Box idea in the real Clash of Clans. You can find better mobs the higher your rank is.
    Ranks: A HUGE part of Clash of Clans is their trophy system. Win a battle, and steal a foe's Trophies. The more trophies you have, the better league you are in. We could incorporate this into Clash, giving players an incentive to play more, as they could show their trophy count as a symbol of prestige, and could get you into better clans. I don't know what to call them, maybe Stars (Nether Stars) or Plaques (Light weighted pressure plates). I have no idea.
    Clans: You must repair your Clan Castle in original CoC, but we don't want to rely too heavily on the original. After receiving 10 Plaques/Stars/Some other, you may be "allowed to enter" the clan castle, giving you the ability to join and leave clans. Only Donors can create clans (Perk!), with each Donor level able to create more. (Supporter:1; VIP:2; Elite:3; Premium:5;) Clan names CANNOT contain profane or obscene language. Clans can be set to either be public, friends only, or invite only. The clan owner has full ability to promote, demote, kick, and invite players to their Clan. There are multiple ranks in a clan, each coming with benefits. (Owner: Full control Elder: Cannot demote any members higher than Moderator, all Moderator abilities. Moderator: Can kick and invite players, but cannot kick any players higher than themselves, all Member abilities. Member: Can request to invite a player, 3 hour cooldown, all recruit abilities. Recruit: No permission, can leave clan if need be.)


    That's about it for now, I have to work on other ideas and homework.

    I like the idea of donors being able to create clans, but I'd say elite+ would be able to create 1 clan. Having multiple clans owned by the same person could get a little weird.

    Having multiple Skyblock islands is weird, but donors still get them.

    Supporters should be able to create a clan, just maybe not as many members can join (Player Max).

    When could this be coming out, and what would the resources blocks be? You could have them as ores, coal ore for the smallest amt. then lapis ore and emerald ore

    For the clans, I think only donors would be able to make clans. But what would the clans do for you? Would there be any way to implement /clans into the whole Network so you could have those friends on other servers as well?

    Probably not for a long time.

    The actual blocks themselves shouldn't be a huge problem. They could be anything, but depending on the currenc(ies/y) we have the blocks might just stay the same for different levels with maybe a sign on them telling the level. I don't want to completely change the block type for different levels of the block (town hall level 1, then level 2) because that could get confusing.

    Surely you would need a lot of people to be on the server at once for it to work? What would happen to the village after a player has stopped playing Cobalt, is it just left or deleted after a period of time? How many players does this server need to function? Will the players be eventually playing against the same people time and time again? Do you plan to incorporate the reward system into survival as to give a motive to play on this new realm (if you destroy a village you get $1500 into your survival account)? Just some questions you might want to think about ^^

    I think every body should be make a clan or it ruins the purpose of it because it is supposed to be a free game.
