Update: Crystal City will now be a separate server completely independent from Cobalt.

As of this point on, I will not be tolerating the open discussion of Crystal City. Crystal City was a completely different server, and I didn't even own it. Starting now, any talk of Crystal City will be considered an advertisement and treated as so.

Crystal City was not a production server. It was a small server run by another person (Blakstorm78) who didn't really know how to play Minecraft or run a server. And it was run on a laptop. If you'll remember, there were many times where staff had abused their powers, spawning items for others. The rules were a mess, because we had no firm foundation of them. People were exploiting behind our backs, ruining the economy. We sold packages containing creative mode. Another bad choice. Sure it was a small community, but there was such a small number of people online. That ended up hurting us because there were too many close friendships, which meant that practically everyone got staff. Even people who I wouldn't even consider mature now got JrAdmin and Admin back then. Bad choice by me.

For those of you who remember Crystal, that's great. But there is no longer any need to compare it to Cobalt. We had to make some drastic changes to our server, and for the most part those have gone well. If you don't like Cobalt, leave. Find another small server run by a 10-year-old on his laptop. I don't want you complaining and being a jerk to us just because we changed.

I can definitively say that if Crystal City had continued on like it did, we would have closed ages ago. Crystal City was a learning phase. It was an experiment done by a few friends, and I never thought after the release of Cobalt we would have grown at all. But since the new structure has come into place, the staff know the rules, the new spawn has helped provide a foundation for starting out on the server, and the fact that we actually put rules in and enforced them means that we can have a good reputation for stopping spammers and hackers. Once we had a stronger foundation and a better website, we started receiving donations. At first, I didn't know what to make of this. But after awhile, I realized that we could expand. I bought new hardware, upgraded the forums, and purchased custom plugins. Not too long after, we started seeing more and more players and more discussions in the forums.

I don't care if you don't like it that VIPs no longer get godmode. I don't care if you're mad at me cause you were Admin back then and now you're back after 9 months demanding you get your Admin back. Crystal City means nothing to Cobalt. And you should treat it that way.
