Since we've had some problems recently with threads going off-topic, necrobumping, and just general ignorance with regards to how to behave on the forums, I thought I'd make a reminder for you all.

    1. Necrobumping. If you're looking through the forums and find a thread you want to reply to, check the date of the last reply. If this date is more than, let's say, a month ago - don't reply UNLESS it's a bug report that is still in need of attention. Technically this isn't punishable, but it's annoying, and if you do it enough I might just take it upon myself to make it punishable.

    2. Off-topic posts. Look at the title of the thread. Look at what you just wrote. Does it relate? If not, delete it and make your own thread in the proper category, or reply to an existing thread that does relate. If you see a thread going off-topic, leave it and don't perpetuate it. Forum staff will lock it if they see fit.

    3. Short/unnecessary posts. You might have noticed that we have a fun new way to rate posts. If you agree with someone, you can press the "agree" button on their post. If you think something is cool or creative, you can press the fancy little button that says "creative" or "like". Same concept for the other ratings. You DO NOT have to post "I agree" or "okay" or "that's cool" or literally any other short phrase that can be expressed through ratings. Look at the ratings. Look at what you wrote. Can it be expressed using those ratings? Does what you're saying add anything to the conversation?

Just use some common sense. If this continues, I will personally come to this thread and tag your name. I'm pretty sure you don't want me to call you out publicly and I don't want to have to do it either, so please keep these things in mind when posting.

And here we see two prime examples of issue #3 - both of these comments could have been expressed with ratings! Elitis, you just posted almost the exact same thing as Red. This is a situation where you use the "agree" button. Red, your comment could be expressed with ratings as well - how about the "informative" rating?

This is not so much etiquette as much as procedure but...

When ever you are composing a post on the forum, please use the "Preview" feature before submitting the post. It simple and quick and will allow you to correct errors (in the quote code for example) before it's too late.

To do this, click the "More Options" button which will bring you to another page where there is a "Preview..." button.

Well for most of us you should have a button next to our close to the post button if you are creating the post. But as you said on replies you need t click more options first.

However good a reminder this is people have already taken it off topic- speaking of which i would like to talk about *banned from thread*
In all seriousness you guys should listen to ryan about going off-topic, necrobumping, and short unnecessary posts. Just this morning i found that Ryth had necrobumped a post from a while ago and made and made a slightly off topic comment. Finally: please stop making off-topic posts on this forum page. its not funny.
