Since it would cost a lot to count up every single person's message every time you saw the "Message Count" text (that thing that shows how many messages you have), the server calculates it every few days for each person. So it splits the load and saves the number for a few days, then updates it.

If you're stuck at 15 for awhile, let me know and I can force refresh it. It might have hiccuped.

But, once you start posting more and becoming more engaged in the forums, your message count should start updating more frequently. I believe it's a week for new people, and then once you get Member status it's a few days or something like that.

Please keep in mind that posting in Off-Topic doesn't give you any posts in your post count ;)

    You said that in a thread . You'd get -1 points .

It's ok if it doesn't get you any points, but I'd like it if it didn't take away points.

    Points are different from posts.

Points are something internal I use in determining whether or not to hire you for a staff position, posts are a public count of the constructive (non-off topic) messages you post. Posting in Off-Topic with something unnecessary to Minecraft just removes a point or two from your internal point count. You can never lose a title (Example: Go from "Member" to "New Member"), though.

Points used for decisions ? Better stop posting ...

I would think that it would be better if you don't base staff decisions on point count and more on personal decision as to who is suitable.

It isn't entirely based on that. I got my staff position with not a single point.

But I think you need some points to get forums staff :p

That's not at all what the goal of that is for. Keep posting in off-topic, lack of forum activity will hurt you more than posting to Off-Topic. And I want people posting there... so why would I discourage it? You have to be a server staff for me to even look at your points to determine if you're ready for forum staff.

I don't base server staffing at all through points, I don't look at them until you're already a server staff. But in order to get a forum staff position, you have to at least have some constructive posts.

So.. final word. Don't worry about 'points". Shouldn't have even brought that one up. They don't matter for anything, they just let me see how you contribute to the forums.

And you will receive +1 post count for every thread you create or reply you post that's not in Off-Topic.
